A Good Agitation

“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works”  Hebrews 10:24

Washing machines have an important part called “The Agitator”.  Without the agitator, you clothes would simply sit it a tub filled with water, but would never get clean.  You can add detergent, you can add water, you can add dirty clothes, but without the agitator, your clothes won’t get clean.

The word “stir up” in Hebrews 10:24 is a word that literally means “sharp disagreement”.  This doesn’t mean that we are to fight with one another, but rather we are to be “agitators” in the lives of our brothers and sisters in the faith.  This agitation, or stirring up, is to be for the purpose of motivating us toward “love and good works”.  Our relationships with one another should keep us from becoming stagnant, comfortable, and not growing.

So, think about how you might be able to “agitate” your group, your friends, your family toward love and good deeds today.  In doing this, you will not only stir up others, but you will stir up yourself.
