Christ-Centered Community

3 04 2015

“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.”  Acts 2:42

Jesus recognized the value of groups and he surrounded Himself with one…a team of disciples.  They served together, shared meals together, and prayed together.  They lived in relationship to one another, with Christ being the one who held them all together.  Jesus not only placed value in living in relationship with other believers… He placed value in serving together and sharing life together!

In Romans 12:4-5, the Apostle Paul states that “just as we have many members in one body and all the members do not have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.”  Paul is encouraging us to live a life in community with other believers and suggesting that we live a life that supports one another in Christ.  We are to serve and share just like He did with the disciples and they did with Him.

Being in a Christ-centered community allows us to experience genuine relationships with other believers and to be able to share with others the experiences of life.  In community, we get to shoulder and encourage each other when times are tough, and on the flip-side, we get to ride the high wave together when times are great!
