He is not here; He has risen, just as He said.  – Matthew 28:6

The reason that the Church exists, is because Christ won an incredible victory on our behalf.  Without His triumph over sin and death, we would all still be trying hard to earn a relationship with God through the Law.  The Church wouldn’t be about our “restored relationship with God”, it would be about trying to be good enough… an effort that in every way falls short of the perfection that is required.

But because of His victory, we can stand together as disciples of Christ, redeemed and restored as Children of God!  Our many failed attempts at saving ourselves have been, once and for all, replaced by the redemptive work of Jesus.  We no longer have to hope for a relationship with God, but we can, through Christ, live in that relationship right now!

Christ’s victory was not just for you… it was for US!  He died and rose again so that His Body could, once again, be one with Him and one with one another!
