“Come, see a man who told me all that I ever did. Can this be the Christ? ~ John 4:29
Often people allow their perceived lack of biblical knowledge to keep them from sharing the gospel. For some it is a lack of confidence in knowing what to say, while for others it’s the insecurity of not being able to adequately answer questions, and while for still others its the fear of what others may think or say. But the most powerful message of the gospel is your own story of your encounter with Jesus.
In John 4 the Samaritan woman encounters Jesus at the well, her eyes and heart are opened to the truth of who he is and she immediately goes and begins to spread the gospel. No biblical training, no evangelistic strategy, no 4-step process, no fear … just her story!
And look what happens, “They said to the woman, ‘It is no longer because of what you said that we believe, for we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this is indeed the Savior of the world.’”
She starts by sharing her story of encountering Jesus, then she brings them to encounter Him for themselves.
