“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house…” Malachi 3:10
God responds to faithfulness, especially in regard to our faithful giving. In fact, God calls His people to “Test” Him in this and watch for His response. If we are faithful in obeying His instructions with that which He has given us, God promises to “throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.” (Mal. 3:10) That seems like a pretty good deal.
Plus, God promises to “…prevent pests from devouring your crops, and the vines in your fields will not drop their fruit before it is ripe,” says the LORD Almighty. This means that because of our faithfulness in giving to Him, His generosity is engaged in not only in protection, but also in increase. When we are faithful, God makes it all worth while.
Some look at tithing as a chore, but a disciple sees it as an opportunity to unleash the generosity of the Lord in their lives. For them, it’s not an obligation, but rather a pathway to the best life possible.
