Your Standard Of Measure

18 04 2015

“For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” – Luke 6:38

Have you ever noticed that generosity breeds more generosity?  A woman at a Starbucks drive-thru in Florida decided to generously pay for the coffee of the driver behind her.  The next driver decided to pay for the coffee behind them.  Then next driver did the same.  For the next 11 hours, 378 people decided to be generous toward the person behind them in the drive-thru line.  One ladies generosity led to hundreds of people being generous to others.

God says that His generosity toward you should, in the same way, inspire your generosity toward those around you.  When you consider God’s favor, God’s provision, God’s grace, God’s forgiveness, and an overwhelming list of other blessings that God has generously poured out into our lives, how could we not, also, be generous to others.  He expects His generosity to impact the way we think and act.

Not only this, God’s generosity to you is also connected to your generosity to others.  If you are stingy with others, you will find God’s generosity toward you will diminish.  However, if you embrace His attitude of increasing generosity, you will find that God’s generosity toward you will also increase.  With the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.
